Below are my two painting that have been juried into this exhibit.
Together, Apart, watercolor, 18”H x 36”W
This watercolor is a study in both physical and psychological layers, utilizing a pyramid composition to explore the connection and isolation within a bustling restaurant. While the scene is filled with light and detailed items, the figures—from the viewer to the couples and the solitary man in back—remain islands unto themselves. Capturing this public space through a private lens, the piece highlights the beauty of proximal silence: the quiet gaps where we are surrounded by others yet our own thoughts.
Tap Dreams, watercolor, 18”H x 36”W
Capturing the quiet anticipation of the focused energy of young dancers waiting for their turn in the spotlight, they observe the older class with a mix of awe, patience, and the silent promise of what they will become. By contrasting the cool blues of the kneeling students with the bright, energetic light of the studio beyond, I hope to evoke that universal moment when our dreams first begin to take shape through a glass door.
